MID-TERM MINI-REP AT THE RAVEN!

The Raven Players presents a unique theatrical offering this election season – 2 Plays performed in repertory, both centered around volatile social issues – namely gun violence & religious fervor in Church & State & the scars, both literal & figurative, of war in Time Stands Still.

These dynamic, engaging & challenging Plays, surprisingly filled with a great deal of humor, are unflinching looks at the gray areas of our typical hot button issues. The only villains here are ignorance, apathy & inaction.

Time Stands Still & Church & State perform on alternate days, September 20 - October 7 at the Raven Performing Arts Theater, Healdsburg

Elvin Bishop's Big Fun Trio: Healdsburg

7pm/Doors Open, 8pm/Show
Legendary Blues Guitarist, Songwriter & Singer.
The music is rootsy, spirited & soulful, performed by serious musicians hell-bent on having a good time.
The trio features Bishop's down-home delivery, deep blues picking and slide guitar playfully meshing with Welsh's piano and guitar licks and Jordan's soul singing and propulsive cajon playing. The album's laid-back, front-porch vibe mixes 4 rollicking Bishop originals with 3 co-writes and 5 raucous, well-chosen covers of songs by Lightnin' Hopkins, Fats Domino, Sunnyland Slim, Ted .
And because one can never have too much fun, Bishop's pals Kim Wilson, Charlie Musselwhite & Rick Estrin stop by the sessions, each adding his distinctive harmonica talent (in Musselwhite 's case, vocals too) to a song. Admission: $40/Per Person.
All ages welcome!

Barrel Tasting Weekends - Sonoma

2 WEEKENDS - March 1-3 & 8-10, 2019.
HOURS: 11am–4pm each day.

Welcome to our Wineries & Lodgings for an exciting weekend of Wine Tasting. A chance to sample wines from the barrel, talk to winemakers & explore the beautiful Alexander, Dry Creek & Russian River Valleys.

Barrel Tasting is not a food pairing or themed event. It’s all about the WINE - many wineries offer “futures” on their Barrel Samples. This is a chance to purchase wine now, often at a discount, then come back to the winery when the wine is bottled, typically 12-18 months from now. Many wines are so limited, buying futures is your only chance to purchase them.

Attendees are encouraged to pack a picnic as most wineries will not have food for this event.
Ticket price includes the opportunity to sample wine from the barrel and in most cases also trying a limited number of current release wines.

Heathen Valley

Romulus Linney's haunting southern epic is set in the 1840s where the action of the play centers on the desire of the Episcopal Bishop of North Carolina to bring the word of God to a valley so remote & untamed that brothers marry sisters & the people live lives of brutal violence and grinding poverty. Accompanied by an ex-convict named Starns & a young orphan boy, Billy, the sometimes overbearing bishop sets about bringing "order and decency" to the valley. Returning to civilization to raise funds, he leaves Starns behind as his deacon & before long Starns, has indeed worked wonders. When the bishop returns he is amazed, but also disturbed that perhaps earthly pleasures are replacing the poverty that is more befitting for beholding the glory of God.
